B-Meg turned back Barangay Ginebra behind a huge scoring tear, 88-76, for its fourth straight win in the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday night.

With James Yap and Kerby Raymundo at the helm, the Llamados outscored the Kings, 9-1, entering the final five minutes of play and kept their distance from a team known for its never say die spirit.

Marc Pingris capped the game’s telling run with a completed three-pointer off a Mark Caguioa foul, giving the Llamados an 81-71 lead with 3:20 to go.

The endgame rally expected from the Kings did not materialize, and part of the sellout crowd of 14,285 at the Araneta Coliseum began to head toward the exit door by the time Rico Villanueva scored Ginebra’s final points for the night with 26 seconds left.

The Llamados hiked their record to 6-4 in a tie with idle Meralco as they registered their longest winning streak for the season under new coach Tim Cone.

“We’re happy where we are at this stage of the tournament," said Cone in his post-game interview.

The big win comes before B-Meg takes on league leaders Rain or Shine and defending champion Talk `N Text one after the other.

“Our schedule just gets harder. A couple of huge games are ahead for us, so we’ll see where we are going," added Cone.

James Yap top-scored for the Llamados with 17 points, rookie Mark Barroca added 14, and four others in PJ Simon (12), Josh Urbiztondo (10), Pingris (10) and Raymundo (10) contributed double digits for the team.

The Kings fell under .500 with a 4-5 record as they lost for the third time in their last four outings.

Until that scoring blast by B-Meg, Ginebra was only trailing, 70-72, following a completed three-point play by Willy Wilson.

Helterbrand finished with 17 points to show the way for Ginebra on the night new acquisitions Rico Maierhofer and rookie Allein Maliksi suited up for the league’s most popular ballclub. - OMG, GMA News
